Lexus RX 350 Dashboard Lights
When you’re driving along the road in your Lexus RX 350 and a dashboard light turns on, your first thought is likely to reach for your owner’s manual. While that can come in handy, the team at Lexus of Larchmont has put together this dashboard symbol guide to discuss the RX 350’s symbols and what they mean for you.
Our service center is conveniently located for Larchmont, New Rochelle, and Yonkers drivers if service is needed. Now, let’s take a closer look at some of these symbols and what your Lexus is trying to tell you. Schedule a service appointment today.
Tire Pressure Light
When this light turns on, it could be a sign that tire pressure is low in at least one tire. If you’re looking for it, this light looks like an exclamation point surrounded by parentheses. While pressure could be low in just one tire, it’s always worth it to check all four. Tire pressure can particularly decrease when the seasons change, so keep that in mind when late summer turns to fall and fall turns to winter.
Check the owner’s manual for proper Lexus RX 350 tire pressure; you can also find this inside the driver’s side door jamb. If the tire pressure light blinks, there may be an issue with the actual Tire Pressure Monitoring System.
Check Engine Light
The reality is that the check engine light can mean many things. However, it should always be taken seriously. If the light is solid, it could mean something minor is wrong like an emissions issue or a loose gas cap. Should the light flash, however, there may be a more serious engine issue at play.
If the light is solid and remains lit the next time you start your car, it’s time to bring your Lexus RX 350 to a Lexus service center.
Coolant Light
Also known as the temperature warning light, this light is saying that the engine temperature is running hot. The symbol looks like a thermometer with wavy lines underneath it. The engine coolant levels should be checked immediately if this light illuminates, so pull over and turn the car off. After letting things cool down a bit, check the coolant levels and add more coolant if necessary.
If the light stays on, it may be a sign of a coolant leak. If this is the case, our service technicians will diagnose any potential issue.
Low Fuel Light
This indicator light is letting you know that you’re low on fuel. It’ll turn on when there’s a little less than three gallons left in the tank. You may be able to travel roughly 50 more miles, but make sure to fill up as soon as possible!
