Check Out This Year’s Lineup
As the only film festival focused specifically on women’s leadership, the Athena Film Festival offers an open forum for dialogue and a chance to showcase what it means to be a powerful woman in today’s society. With a diverse lineup of narrative, documentary, and short films, along with compelling additional programming, festival attendees have plenty to explore.
The festival will open on Thursday, February 28th, with a screening and New York premiere of “Fast Color,” directed by Julia Hart. The festival will close on Sunday, March 3rd, with a premiere of the documentary “Knock Down The House,” which features New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
There will also be a number of panels and workshops, including a masterclass for writing on the big screen, with producer and writer Ligiah Villalobos, who is known for her work on Nick Jr., and also for the independent feature film “Under the Same Moon.” There will also be a conversation with members of Time’s Up, on their first-year accomplishments and how to continue fighting for safe and fair work for women of all kinds.
